Year 40

Turning 40 has s been life changing for me.

In my 20s, I remember watching different women like Halle Berry on Oprah. And they all said the same thing. That life is just different after 40. Well, I couldn’t agree more.

I’ve only been 40 for five months, and I’ve already experienced so many life changes. I’ve been diagnosed with anxiety and depression. I’ve comfortably let some relationships go. I’ve realized what it looks like when I have more grace for myself. I’ve learned to speak up for myself and my needs. I’ve made a huge decision about my business, that I wouldn’t have been brave enough to do before (more to come on that later). I’m learning to be authentically me.

See, I’ve realized that while I’ve lived a beautiful life with beautiful experiences, I’ve often acted based on what others would think of me. And that’s such a heavy weight to bear. A weight that my body pretty much loudly asked me to remove. And as I spoke up about what I was going through, I realized that so many Black mothers bear the same weight. I come from a lineage of strong, courageous, determined, and amazing women. Women who sacrificed a lot so that I could be where I am right now. Yet, as thankful as I am for that sacrifice, it’s also important to shed the unhelpful narratives that we tell ourselves, after watching our grandmothers, aunts, and mothers give so much of themselves.

For me, my platform is not just about getting more organized. Honestly, it never has been. It’s about striving for better, while allowing yourself to set goals that aren’t associated with perfection. I’ve identified my passion, and it feels really good. So, let me re-introduce myself. My name is Toula and I help overwhelmed Black mothers prioritize calm, peace, and order in their lives.

Here are some things that you’ll continue to see from me:

  • Client home organization projects

  • How I apply my organizing principles to my own life

  • Collaboration with like-minded female entrepreneurs who have a desire to support Black mothers

  • Features in podcasts and publications

  • The Bizzy Bee 30 day declutter challenge

Here are some new things to come:

  • More posts encouraging mothers to rest

  • Virtual workshops to help you set realistic organizational goals for your home

  • Online organization courses with do-able actions steps

  • Virtual consultations for clients who want specific tips

  • More speaking engagements in spaces where Black moms are the focus

If I’ve piqued your interest, make sure you are signed up for my e-mail list, so you can be the first to hear about all the new things happening this year.

With love & peace,

Toula
